Thomas Conlan was born on the 23rd April 1882 and baptised in St Mary’s R C Church on the 21st May 1882 Burnley, the son of Andrew Conlan and Anne Bracewell.
Thomas married Hannah Roberts on the 2nd April 1903 in Salford and sometime before the war moved to Scotland. (His army service record gives date of marriage as 2 May 1903).
The family were living at 85 Braehead St., off Rutherglen Rd., Glasgow when he enlisted. They had three children, Thomas (1910), Mary (1912) and Robert (1914). Thomas enlisted 2 Sept 1914 and was on the home front until April 1917 then he went to France were he was eventually wounded and subsequently died from his wounds.
Thomas left his effects to his widow Hannah. When Hannah received his effects she was living at 51 Commercial St. Glasgow. His effects included Letters, notebook, rosary, Religious book, Cigarette case and coins.
Thomas was buried in Mendinghem Military Cemetery, Belgium: Grave Ref; VII.E.3.
