Private Patrick Henry.

Died 9th October 1917, aged 19.
(Brother Martin was killed 8th Sept. 1918.)
Patrick was born in the March quarter of 1896, Burnley. The son of Patrick Henry and Margaret Wear. In the 1901 census the family were living at 18 Robert St, Burnley. Patrick 42 Pavior and born in Ireland, Margaret 35 born in Liverpool, James 13 weaver, Martin 8, Peter 6, Patrick 3, Christina 9 months and Mary aged 36 from Ireland (presumably Patrick’s sister).
In the 1911 census the family had moved to 9 Master St, Burnley, in 3 rooms. Patrick 53, Margaret 45, Martin 18 Printer, peter 16, Patrick 13, Christina 10 and Thomas 8. Martin’s parents had been married 24 years and had had 8 children two of whom had died.
From the Burnley Express dated 31st Oct 1917:
...............................He was 19 years of age and single. He joined the Territorial in August 1916 and went out in March. Formerly he was a baker and confectioner in the employ of the BSK Cafe, and was connected with St Mary's Roman Catholic Church being a member of the Catholic Boys Brigade. A letter received from him dated the day before his death, says; "just a few lines to let you know I am alright. I have not time to write much, as I am going up the line. You need not worry yourself mother, I will be alright." Private Henry was one of four Brothers serving. Two are at the front. One of them Private Martin Henry, King's Royal Rifles, was formerly in the machine room at the "Express" Office; Peter has been gassed; whilst Jim is with the Royal Flying Corps, and expects to go out anytime.
Lived at 20 Albert Street.
Patrick left his effects to his Mother Margaret.
