William was born in Burnley. The son of Richard Ingham and Catherine. In the 1881 census the family lived at 35 Moseley ST, Burnley. Richard 30 a miner, Catherine 27, Mary 6, Emily 4, Sarah 2 and William 1 month. Everyone was born in Burnley.
By the time of the 1891 census the family had moved to 42 Ashworth St, Burnley. Richard 40, Catherine 36 weaver, Mary 16 weaver, Emily 14 weaver, Sarah weaver, William 10 and Florence 6.
William married Jane Ann Starkie on the 20th Feb 1900 in St Stephen’s Burnley.
They lived at 9 Hulme St, Burnley in the 1901 census. William 20 a cotton twister, and Jane 20 a weaver. Jane was also born in Burnley.
William (30) and Jane (30) had moved to 135 Leyland Rd in the 1911 census. They had 2 children Annie 6 and William Russell Ingham 1. They had already lost 1 child in infancy.

The funeral took place, at Ilkley Cemetery, on Saturday, of William Ewart Ingham, late 7th East Lancashires, who up to war, was a well-known Burnley professional footballer, and played with Aberdare, West ham, Plymouth Argyle, Bristol City and Accrington Stanley. He died at the St Dunstan’s Hostel, Ilkley, having been blinded and crippled through being “gasses” and shellshock.
William was buried in Ilkley Cemetery, Yorkshire: Grave ref F.R.C.220
