Tyne Cot Military Cemetery.

Walter enlisted in Aldershot a couple of weeks after the war started on the 1st Sept 1914. He was sent to France almost immediately on the 18th Sept which would suggest he had had previous military experience. He initially joined the ASC (4300). To say he had a colourful army career would be an understatement. His conduct sheet was full, ranging from drunkenness to leaving horses unattended. He was transferred to the 15th Battalion of the Cheshire Regt. Whilst in France on the 24th Sept 1917 and joined his unit in the field on the 28th Sept. Within a couple of months he had been wounded and died. He gave his father James as his next of kin and he stated he had two half brothers who lived at 69 Bedford St, Burnley and a sister Elizabeth (27) who lived in Leeds.

Lived 10 Earle St or Brown Hill.

Walter left his effects to his father James.

Walter is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium: Grave Ref; Panels 61 to 63. Son of James McNulty, of 10, Earl St., Burnley Lane, Colne Rd., Burnley.
