From the Burnley Express dated 24th August 1918: BURNLEY YOUTH'S LAST SACRIFICE.

News has been received that Private Peter Kerrigan, 22542, of the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry was killed in action on July 20th. He enlisted in May 1915 and went out 12 months later.  After being wounded twice, he returned to the front in May 1917.  He was only 21 years of age when he met his death. He was formerly employed at Rowley Pit, and attended St Mary's RC School.  He was an old brigade boy at St John's RC Church and also belonged to the Burnley Lads' Club. His younger brother Private Lawrence Kerrigan, aged 19 is serving in Palestine.  Another brother Lance Corporal W. Kerrigan has died in India.  Two cousins Private P. Henry and Private L. Clarke have made the supreme sacrifice and another Private G. Clarke has lost a leg in Active Service.
