From the Burnley Express & Advertiser dated 19th October 1918: Two Sons Killed in Four Months

Mr. & Mrs. Ashworth of 46 Cleaver Street, Burnley have lost two sons at the War within four months and they will be the recipients of genuine sympathy in the double bereavement.  

One is Signaller John Ashworth 37152 of the East Lancashire Regt., who died of wounds on an Eastern front on September 19th.  He was single and only 20 years of age.  He enlisted on January 22, 1916 and went out last Christmas.  Before joining the Army he was a Weaver at West's Browhead Shed and attended St John's R.C. Church, Ivy Street where a memorial service will be held next Wednesday 9 a.m.

The other brother, Bombardier Frank Ashworth of the R. G. A., who was a Weaver also before enlisting, died from pneumonia, following shell-shock, in a French Hospital on May 31st last.  He was 21 years of age, enlisted on April 15th, 1915 and went out Christmas 1916.
