From The Express & Advertiser dated 16th March 1918:  PLUCKY AND ARDENT

Three Burnley brothers have now been killed.  The toll was completed on Feb. 25th when Pte. Roger Priest (39), (15139) King's Own Royal Lancasters, surrendered his life in the cause of freedom.  He enlisted on Nov., 1914 and saw much service.  Once he was wounded in the leg.  A married man, he leaves a widow and three children.  Before the war, Pte. Priest was a Collier at Barden Pit.  He was on the Roll of Honour at St. John's, Ivy St.  His brothers were Frank and Patrick Priest.  Although his discharge was offered him, he was too ardent a soldier to accept it.

Buried in Struma Military Cemetery, Greece: VII. H. 8
