From the Burnley Express dated 8th July 1916: CORPORAL KILLED
Mr and Mrs John J Nutter of 79 Milton St Burnley, on Tuesday evening received official intimation of the death in action of their nephew, Corporal Thomas McNally, of the East Lancs Regt. Corp McNally, who would have been 20 next Nov, lost both his parents when quite young and he had been brought up, along with his younger brother Anthony, by his uncle and aunt. He worked as a labourer in the brickyard of Towneley Colliery and was connected with St Mary’s Catholic Church. He was a member of the East Lancs. Special Reserve and was away training when war broke out and never had a furlough afterwards. He was killed on April 9th. He was a quiet, steady lad and greatly esteemed.
Thomas left his effects to his brother Anthony.
Lived at 79 Milton Street.
