Killed in Action 4th October 1918, aged 19.

Patrick was born in the March quarter of 1899 in Burnley. The son of Patrick Moran and Anne Crossby. In the 1901 census the family resided at 6 Park St, Burnley. Pat 39 labourer born in Ballina, Mayo, Ireland, Anne 29, Owen4, Patrick 3, Edward 1 week and boarder Mary Buck 24, all born in Burnley.

It is possible that the family went back to Ireland in the 1911.

From the Burnley Express dated 9th November 1918:  BURNLEY MACHINE GUNNER.

Mr and Mrs Moran of 7 Ellis Street Burnley, have got official news that their son Private Patrick Moran of the Machine Gun Corps bomber was killed in action on October 5th.  A letter has also been received from An Officer conveying the same information and stating: "His section was holding an important position in the line, when a Shell fell near him and killed him instantly. Your son was a fine soldier, always cheerful and steady Under Fire, and his loss is deeply regretted by the officers and men who knew him."

Deceased who was only the 19 years of age, went out last January. He was formerly employed at Hollands Waste Warehouse, Trafalgar, and was a member of St. Mary's Boys' Sodality.

Lived at 7 Ellis Street.

Patrick left his effects to his father Patrick.

Patrick was buried in La Baraque British Cemetery, France:Grave Ref; A.8. Son of Patrick and Annie Moran, of 7, Ellis St., Burnley.
