Edward was born in the Sept. quarter 1894, Burnley. The son of Edward German and Bridget Sherrin. In the 1901 census the family lived at 70 Helena St, Burnley. Edward widower 40 and a Tailor,Albert 19 Banker’s assistant, Henry James 17 bankers assist. All born in Kendal, Annie 12, Jenny 10 and Edward 7 all born in Burnley.
In the 1911 census Edward and his brother Albert were back in Kendal living with their uncle, George Williams at 7 Gawith Place, Highgate, Kendal. Albert was an hairdresser and Edward a shoe machinist.
Edward left his effects to his father Edward.
Son of Edward Lindley German, of 20, Yard 135, Highgate, Kendal, Westmorland, and the late Bridget German.
Edward is also commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France: Pier and Face 6A & 7C
